Letter U is for: Umbrella
We are really winding down with school lately. I’m not sure if it is the warmer days, or my never-ending To-Do list, but we have all struggled with motivation. There wasn’t too much extra work for Elaina this week either, so it was a nice easy going week of school.
Here’s a look at what she did:
We are still using the same tools as usual. Word Whammer and Handwriting Page from Confessions of a Homeschooler. Here she is tracing the letter U with her fingers before she uses a marker.
The Letter U is for Umbrella Magnet Page from Making Learning Fun...
And Play-doh page too. This week we added a fun new element to her Letter Hunt Worksheet: Alphabet Stampers. She put a round of Play-doh on each letter U, and then stamped over it with the letter U dough stamp. She loved these new tools!
These printables came from Confessions of a Homeschooler. Match the correct number of raindrops with the number card.
She colored an Umbrella Coloring Book...
And sorted Umbrella's from smallest to largest.
We sang this fun Umbrella Song each day during our Circle Time. Even Olivia got in on the song!
Another new tool from a recent consignment sale, Wooden ABC Lacing Beads. She did great with these and laced the entire alphabet in order!
Our main book for the week was The Umbrella. I made a set of printables to go along with the story. We used the animals to retell the story and for both girls to play with.
We did an activity to practice following directions and locations: Over and Under. Put the Toucan over the Umbrella. Place the Tree Frog Under the Umbrella. Elaina insisted that I go in order of the story!
She matched up the animals from the story to the word cards after I read them to her.
Here is the very simple pack I put together for her. We all love this story so much, I know we will come back and do this pack again!
She spent a lot of her free time this week putting together puzzles, and coloring.
She asked to play Honey Bee Tree a few times too.
She and I sat down one afternoon and made new hair bows and headbands. Here she is rockin’ a new flower headband!
Love the play-doh letter stamps on the letter hunt worksheet- great idea! :)
