Peek at our Week {May 11}
The kids had their last day at The Homeschool Academy this week. Next year they are enrolled in the new Integrated Arts program, which is a mixture of visual and performing arts. The campus is relocating too, and I am so happy it will be closer to our house!
We’ve migrated to our “modified school schedule” for the summer now, which means school about 3 days a week, for only a couple of hours. The kids will continue with the basics just to keep their skills up: math, reading, writing, and Bible. Easy peasy.
They’ve been finding a lot of free time now and have made me very proud by keeping themselves busy and for the most part, out of trouble.
Well, for the most part…
I totally goofed and (nearly) forgot to administer Isaac’s state test. We only had two hours left for the deadline, and then couldn’t get logged into the system. I shouldn’t mention that the school teachers advised us parents NOT to wait until the last day to test, because the test has been spazing out. I also shouldn’t mention that the stress of this experience kind of made me spazz out…
Luckily, Isaac completed the test on time, and we are now just waiting for the results. While I’m not a big fan of this kind of testing, it is mandatory, and can give me a bit of an idea if he has retained anything I’ve taught him.
Elaina’s had a good week of school. The focus with her for the summer is READING! I’m going to put together a reward chart for her, because she is very motivated by rewards. I’m also planning to enroll each of the kids in the Library’s summer reading program for an extra boost.
All of the kids have been doing really well with their Bible memory work. Even Olivia has been practicing them with us .
I’m a bit sad that Olivia and I will no longer have our Wednesday’s together. It’s really been fun to have time with just her!
We’ve been out riding bikes a bit and walking a bit too, since the weather has been so mild this week. We’ve also been teaching the kids how to play Yahtzee, which is lots of fun! (And really good for counting, multiplying, and strategy. I know….weird homeschool mom is always thinking of that stuff.)
I really couldn’t tell you what I cooked this week….Either I didn’t cook and we ate cereal, or we ate out. My friend Monica brought us dinner one night, and the wonderful meal fed us for two nights! Thank You Monica!
I did chop onions, though I’m not even sure for what. I’m guessing Veggie Pizza, but honestly, I can’t remember.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and Saul took the kids out today on a “Top Secret Mission”. I’ve been enjoying a bit of peace and quiet while they are gone. I may even try to sneak in a nap.
If I’m lucky…
