Peek at our Week {May 4}
We are heading into a new month.
We’ve got Isaac’s Birthday, the last weeks of “normal” school, and a bit of spring fever to contend with.
Isaac was beyond excited to celebrate his 9th Birthday. We asked him if he’d rather have an “experience” like bowling or put put golf, or just have more presents, and it came easy and quick for him to say “More Presents!”
The kids only have two weeks left of HSA, so they brought home a portfolio of art work along with a few other projects they’ve completed throughout the year. They asked me to make Chocolate Chip Scones for their last day .
Haley gave Isaac an early birthday present and part of that was a pack of Star Wars Tattoos. I’m not sure why he is so unhappy, but it only took him about three days to use up the entire pack.
That could be in part because he shared a lot of them!
On Saturday, we all celebrated Isaac’s 9th Birthday. I can’t believe he is 9!
Nate had an ok week. He is doing so well with his school work. Now we just need to work on his back-talk…
The highlight of the week for Nate, was this adventure detailed below:
Poor guy was so insistent, and would not take no for an answer.
Nate is cruising along in his new math book, and is loving our new science and Bible lessons. He is finally making strides with his handwriting too, and that makes me feel a bit better about graduating him to the next grade level (if he gets caught up on math this summer!)
We all had eye exams this week, and practically took over the office for three hours while taking turns in the big fancy chair. All of the kids did great and Olivia was especially adorable, and carefully followed all of Dr. Ty’s directions. We love our eye doc! (and our new specs!)
In a complete moment of frustration over the constant state of disaster in the kids bathroom, I told the oldest three to draw up a contract holding them each accountable for cleanliness and order. They did a pretty good job, and after they were done, I typed it up, made them sign it, and then laminated and hung it in the bathroom. I could care less who is making the mess or who cleans it…I just want it clean!
Hopefully it helps….
Elaina wasn’t herself this week. She wasn’t sick, but just seemed tired each day, and a bit whiny too.
I can relate. I haven’t been myself either…
We are still chugging along with her reading, although it seems so very slow-going. I’ve been discussing the plans for the summer with her to keep reading. Maybe some extra incentive in the form of My Little Pony’s would help?
I’m so proud of how well she’s been doing on her bike! She told me yesterday that she thinks she is ready for a family bike ride .
Elaina decided she didn’t want to go to HSA on Wednesday so I kept her home with us. We got a nice wet snow that day and of course, it just so happened that I had a full day of errands to run.
Olivia has entered into a really fun age!
She’s been interested in doing a lot of “school” and also playing on her own quite a bit.
A peek out of my kitchen window one afternoon, revealed Olivia rolling this huge log around. I’m not sure what made her try and do it, but it wore her out nonetheless.
She’s still loving her trike, and peddles around with furious speed. I can’t seem to get enough pictures of her on it either…
On Friday we had a fun play-date with our good friends. Aren’t those girls adorable!?!
I’d been working on these Bible Verse Cards for a while, and finally finished them them this week. They are really helping me focus in the morning and at night before bed.
Duck has gone through a major “CAT-it-tude” adjustment this week. He’s been really playful, and still making his home in anything that appears just a tad too small. I really expected that he’d settle down after his surgery, but he is very spunky still.
I got my first bouquet of dandelions of the season. I guess that means it’s time to spray the yard…
Friday I hosted the girls for our Girl’s Night Out. We did paraffin dips and manicures and ate some yummy food. It was so fun!
I had a bit more energy this week to cook with more creativity. I made a cold Garden Pizza, Ginger Beef Stir Fry, and Tostadas. I tested out a new creation called Strawberry Dream that was Ah-mazing! And of course, for Isaac’s Birthday, we had Sprinkle Pancakes. Yum!
