Posh Princess Preschool {G is for Giraffe}

Now that we are in a good rhythm of school, our weeks are going smooth and Olivia is having a lot of fun.

I am too.  I really enjoy this time I get with her.

Play-dough page (my printable pack)

We had a bit of a play-dough fiasco this week.  All of our home-made Kool Aide play dough has gotten really sticky.  I guess you can just kneed more flour into it, but I just never got around to it.

Olivia was not very happy when I told her she couldn't use the dough stampers or the cookie cutters...

I showed her how to use the Inchimals to measure giraffes.  She loved this!

(All the worksheets are from my giraffe printable pack linked below.)

Yellow Color Discovery Box

If I’d have been thinking, or planning ahead a bit better, I would have saved green for this week, since it starts with a g.  But since we just did it last week with our frog unit, I threw in our yellow stuff.  Besides, giraffes are more yellow-ish than green-ish anyway.

I think Olivia is getting a bit old for these boxes.  They are so cool and we’ve used them a lot of different ways, but she hardly spends any time with them whenever I get them out for her.  Mostly she just wants to throw the ball around a bit.

The knobless cylinders are always a hit though, even with the older kids.  She did pretty well and only got one of them out of order.  Of course, the best part is knocking them all down.

Giraffe Fun

Marble Painting

DSC08480

This was her favorite part of the week, although it started out a bit rocky.  I asked her if she wanted to “Marble Paint” a giraffe.

“Sure.”

But once the marble ran across the paint and onto the giraffe, she started crying and blaming me for ruining her picture….oye…

After a bit, she got into it and ended up painting two giraffes she named “Peppermint” and “Polly”.  Now that’s pretty cute!

This set is by far one of her favorite toys! (Mix and Match Magnetic Animals: I think it's a retired set from Lakeshore Learning.)  Aside from this, I actually had very little to fill her baskets with this week.

Goblet Gobblers and Gears! Gears! Gears!

At first she was hesitant to play with the gears.  She watched me start to build and then asked to take over.  Once she figured out how to make them all spin, she was hooked.  She loved watching the Gobbler spin around too.

Animal Mommies and Babies puzzles.  We got out our mini animals and she matched those up to the puzzles.

I made her a set of printables for this unit, with a few new activities.  Her favorite is usually the coloring page and the dice games.  This time around though she really liked the color clip cards - I think because she could do them on her own.

Olivia has a bit of Garfield fever.  She’s fallen in love with Isaac’s stuffed toy.  She regularly steals him and gets into trouble for turning him into a girl cat.

I guess Santa will have to bring her a Garfield of her own.
