Weekly Wrap-Up {Laundry and Pretzels}
We started off the week with a garage sale. The girls drew with sidewalk chalk for nearly an hour! The sale went great and will help with the upcoming move we have.
Monday was First Day. Be sure to check it out here.
Isaac helped me in the kitchen a few times this week. He is finally getting to an age where cooking with his help is actually helpful and not extra work. He is anxious for the day when I allow him to start cutting with the sharp knives. I kind of wondered, when is a good age for that?
I am incredibly proud of how much school work he has done this week! He so desperately wants to get caught up in math and did over 20 pages of math this week. If he keeps up this pace, he’ll be on to his 3rd grade Saxon next month. WooHoo Isaac!
He chose to do a lot of the read-a-louds this week during our Bible and History lessons. We spent a lot of time cuddled on the sofa, noses in our books. We are already planning what we want to add to his make-your-own History book for next week.
Nate has had a very rough start to the school year, and had gotten very behind in his bookwork and studies. I’ve been working hard with him to get him caught up on his school work, and by Wednesday he was. We were hopeful things would start improving for him, but alas, this difficult season is not over yet….
He sure looks handsome with his new haircut!
Elaina had a great week of school! She did the farm unit with Olivia and the new book pack I put together for The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate The Wash.
She did her very first math equations this week, and was so proud of herself stating, “I had no idea I could even do that!” That’s my girl!
I’ve added laundry to her list of chores once a week and she hates it. It’s just so boring to fold jammies and undies….Oh to be royalty trapped in a commoners body....
She is still walking around taking random surveys. I think I’m going to try and sneak in reading lessons next week again. She seems so ready….
Olivia’s been learning how to wash her hands. She still likes to spray the mirror with water, and a couple of times I have caught her smearing the hand soap all over the counters.
We did a farm unit this week, and she LOVED it! One thing that she started doing was drawing faces on things. She colors the eyes and a mouth and sometimes a nose. That is pretty cute!
I made soft pretzels for the first time. They were a big hit and the kids have already asked that this recipe be put in the family cookbook. Definitely going to make them again. (Recipe here.)
We’ve had crazy weather here: one day was over 80 and the next was frosty cold. We went from slurping Sonic slushy’s to sipping hot cocoa. Olivia calls it her “pockie” or coffee.
We are going to be gearing up for our move in the next two weeks or so, and school may be hit or miss. We signed the papers for the new house and should get the keys early next week. I’m going to take the weekend and search out Home Depot’s oops paint for the new place….those lavender walls gotta go!
Looks like a great week of learning! Good luck on your move. Hope everything goes smoothly for you guys. :)
