Letter Ll for Lion, Ladybug, Lemon
We are just getting to the half way point of the alphabet,
and The Diva has learned more of her letters than I have taught her!
She is recognizing and recalling phonetic sounds, and has a great interest to begin reading.
She is ahead of where the boys were at her age,
in both her handwriting skills and phonic awareness.
That just goes to show, that each child is ready in their own time.
We never push our kids past what they are ready for.
Instead we are right there, encouraging them to reach just far enough
that they stay interested in what they are learning,
and get excited about what is coming up.
I waited a little longer in starting with Elaina,
but she was so ready, has picked things up really easily, and is having so much fun.
In fact, her New Years Resolution was to “learn all of my letters so I can read!”
Here’s to reading girl!
Play-doh page and Letter L for leaves
One of her early math books, she is on the number 4…
It is one of their Instant Learning Centers. In this center, the child places picture cards with either the beginning or ending sound of a similar letter, in this case letter L. Then she identifies where the sound is, at the beginning or end by using a colored disk.
L for Lion coloring page…
Smallest object page…
And letter hunt page..
I keep trying to get her to play the right way,
with the pieces face down,
but she gets frustrated, and asks to turn them over.
Then for kicks, we got out
The Lion King game to end out the week.
She got this doodle book for Christmas, and has carried it around with her since.
She loves it! (Thank you cousin Jodi!)
