Kindergarten July 2015
We’re easing into Kindergarten this summer, taking our time, and keeping it light. Olivia seems to swing between loving school, and not really being interested. After having done this Kindergarten thing with the three older kids, I know from experience how difficult it is to try to teach an uninterested kid.
I spent a little time last month, laying it out the plans for the year. I know that I have mentioned before just how much I love teaching kindergarten! It is such a precious time of learning that lends itself to so much quality time together. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we are reusing most of the same material that was used by the other kids. That keeps it very low stress for me! Most months have a theme plus a literature unit.
I met some resistance right away when she decided the themes I chose for July were too “boring” for her…oh well. We can just wing-it for a few weeks then.
Critical Thinking Skills, Interlocking Cubes
Hooked on Phonics
Giant Perler Beads, Number Cards
