October was a whirlwind of activity.
Just when I thought the dust was starting to settle from the busyness of “back-to-school” routine.
I surprised the girls with school-in-the-park. Our fall weather has been just beautiful so why not pack up the books and a lunch and spend the day outside?
We were invited to a fun Field Day to Four Mile House, a historic pioneer museum. It was such a fun day for just us girls! I was super impressed with how much Elaina remembered from our “Little House on the Prairie” Unit this past spring.
My sister’s amazing family arrived, and spent a week with us. The girls had a blast playing together! I LOVED being able to spend so much time with all of them, but especially my adorable niece and nephew.
Just after they left, my aunt and uncle visited from Minnesota. It was just for an overnight stay, but we packed it full with lots of yummy food and fun games. It’s always so nice to see them!
It seemed like we sort of did school about half-time the entire month, but we managed to work through a fun science unit and do a lot of reading.
We celebrated Nate turning 11! I really can not believe I have two eleven year olds. Saul and I surprised Nate with lunch at school and cupcakes for his classmates.
(Yes…those are matches on his cake. Yes, I forgot to buy new candles for him. Yes, they did burn really fast. No, they didn’t set off the fire alarm.)
We drove to Greeley to celebrate Saul’s dad’s birthday. It’s always so nice to see everyone!
Saul took Isaac to his first (and hopefully last) Haunted House while we were up there. They ended up standing in line for something like 5 hours, and in the end, Isaac ended up being so scared he cried stating, “I should have listened to Mom! I shouldn’t have come!”
The kids are in leaf raking season again. It’s pretty fun watching them play and jump into the enormous piles they make.
(waiting at Isaac’s conference)
I took the kids to Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween and they had so much fun! Isaac: Where’s Waldo, Nate: Ninja, Elaina and Olivia: pirates.
(Baked Zucchini, Apple Crisp, and homemade Tortillas.)
I feel like I did a lot of extra cooking this month, but only a few pictures to show for it.
