Between a dead camera and a dying computer, I haven’t been able to keep up on what is happening around here. Here’s the best at what I can manage with my cell phone.
Isaac brought the new year in with a poor decision to not participate in the (mandatory) school Science Fair. He literally did everything BUT work on it. We pushed ,prodded, and practically nagged at him to complete it, and after hours and hours of watching him “fake” working on it, we decided to let him learn the hard way. So he’s sitting with his first big fat F, and reaping the consequences of choosing not to work hard. Nine weeks of no technology and early bed times. Boo.
Nate was eager to get back to school after Christmas Break. This kid really does best with a strong routine. He’s working on a research project for his GT (Gifted and Talented) Class as well as prepping for his first Battle of the Books competition.
Elaina is plugging along with her multiplication facts, which she is thoroughly hating. A necessary part of third grade, unfortunately. Aside from math, she really does enjoy school and gets her work done rather quickly. Which is fantastic because there is just so much more day to savor this way. (I really appreciate that she shares the same “Work first/Play later” moto that I do.)

Olivia is turning into a reader! She definitely has her own pace of moving forward (which I am much less pushy about since teaching Elaina to read.) She started her new Kindergarten Math book, which she LOVES! And she is joining Elaina for our Solar System Unit.
Our family joined the local YMCA the beginning of this month. We are so excited! I’m hoping to get the kids in swimming lessons before the summer.

Saul bought me a set of crochet hooks for Christmas, so I have been watching YouTube videos trying to teach myself how to crochet. So far, I’ve managed to crochet several washcloths. Hopefully, a hat will be next…
(Vegetable Fried Rice)
I’ve managed to get myself “glutened” several times this month. For now, I’m totally done eating out! It’s just not worth the pain and problems. Back to eating everything homemade.
(Triple Chocolate Parfait)
We have a few fun things coming up next month, but mostly just settling into routine after a busy holiday season.
