Peek at our Week {or maybe just a bit more than a week}
We’ve had a great start to our summer.
We’ve been enjoying lots of outdoor time since the weather has been perfectly mild. Lots of picnics, running through sprinklers, and kicking the soccer ball around.
To make it even sweeter, two boys have finally gotten their act together about school. That means they actually get to enjoy the summertime fun too.
I’ve completely put Olivia’s school on the backburner right now. Every once in a while she asks to “Explode the Code”, but mostly she’s just doing a lot of playing.
And so are the rest of us. Yahtzee is a favorite right now and Qwirkle has made a reappearance too. My mom bought the kids Clue and they’ve really enjoyed playing that in the evenings.
We were invited to a GoFish concert with our great friends. It was so fun! Afterwards I took the kids to get ice cream cones.
I won’t mention how cranky the kids were the next morning….
Olivia had her speech evaluation. She was noted to have great expressive language, but is having issues with jaw stability and endurance with her speech. Overall they suspect it will not be a lengthy treatment for her. They are recommending both individual and group therapy sessions, each meeting once a week. Now we wait for insurance approval.
I’ve been getting a lot of offers to help in the kitchen lately. Elaina helped me make homemade pizza one night. She mixed, kneaded, and stretched out the dough. Of course it was the “tastiest pizza ever in the whole world” since she worked so hard to make it.
I’m learning to embrace the gluten free pizza I now have to eat. One great thing about it is that I can put whatever toppings I want to on it, not just the pepperoni that my kids will eat.
Don’t get me wrong. I’d give it up for the real deal in a heartbeat if it didn’t cause me a belly ache that lasted three days.
I made Citrus Chicken Cutlets one night and Beef Brisket with Twice Baked Potatoes another. My mom treated us to Five Guys to give me a much appreciated night off from cooking! Yummm….
I tried Falafel for the first time – it came with the Shawarma Platter that I ordered. I'm not sure yet if I'll be ordering them again. Even though they were cute little hearts, they were pretty greasy.
