We are on a new adventure!
Won’t you come along and join us? This fall we are learning how to have strong character. We are using the book, A Child's Book of Character Building, book 1, along with a bunch of other activities to round out our experience.
FAITH: Believing God will do what He says.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11:1
We read the bible story about when Jesus walked on water, and called Peter out to do the same. The kids each told stories of their own about times they have tried to walk on water, either at the pool or the lake. No matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't do it. This presented a great opportunity to talk with them about how Great our God is!
We learned our new song Faith and Bible verse from Romans 8:28. I chose this verse over the one in the book, because I felt it was a more concrete example of what God promises us.
"We know that all that happens to us is working for
our good if we love God and are fitting into His plans."
-Romans 8:28

I explained to the kids that God never promises us an easy life, but He does promise to work things out for our good. That while He doesn't promise to give us all that we want, He does promise to take care of all our needs. And that we have to trust in Him and have FAITH that He will do just what He says!
We spent time each day reading from the bible, the book, and coloring the pages about Faith in the bible, at home, at school, and at play. For our worship time we sang, I Believe God Can and during our prayer time asked for God to increase our faith every day, and show us ways to share our faith with others.

At the end of the week we watched our Character Builders movie on Faith and also got to watch Bibleman - A Fight For Faith.
It was a great time of study and fellowship together in His word, and a good reminder for me too!
