Wow did we have a fun week with Tot School!
Olivia has made huge strides with her language development this past week. Though she still seems to prefer to scream, instead of speak, she is using so many new words and word combinations! Just this morning, she came in to our bedroom and said, “Come on guys!” I think the next several weeks we will spend on vocabulary development…
Here’s a look at what kept her busy this week:
She still loves to use dry erase markers. These dry erase activity cards are a great way to expand her vocabulary while she is doing a favorite activity: coloring.
Since her big sister was learning about Turtles, we got out the Green Discovery Box. We went over the objects and I asked her questions like, “Can you show me the Green Ball?” or “Can you put the Green Turtle in the Green box?”
She played a little with the Turtle Tic-Tac-Toe and placed a turtle into each square. Great fine motor work!
She loved this Turtle Size Sort from Confessions of a Homeschooler! We did this one every day. She would point to each group and say, Daddy, Mommy, and Baby.
Since we were on a green theme, I set out the Green Knobless Cylinders for her. She amazes me with her stacking ability!
A snuggle with big sis!
I found this adorable wooden tray and tea set at a thrift store for $3. It is perfect for her pouring/scooping/measuring activity. She requested to do this a bunch this week. I love how quietly she plays with it. Her attention span has gradually increased too, and she is content to play independently for nearly 20 minutes.
Olivia is still (mildly) obsessed with the band, and has been singing the Happy Birthday Song a lot. I got down this Birthday Cake Set. She happily served us all cake while singing to us. She got pretty possessive with it and declared it to be hers screaming, “Mine!” if anyone else tried to play with it….
(If you are reading this post through email, click here or go to the blog to see the video of Olivia singing the Birthday Song.)
She stacked these ABC blocks…
And some craft sticks, placing them into a container and then taking them out again. (Funny what she is interested in doing…)
We played with Mr. Potato Head, and practiced saying different body parts. She really loved playing with this set!
The older kids did a painting craft so she wanted in on the fun. Here she is with my Mom.
Just For Fun
This warmer weather has been so great for the kids and for me. Olivia is especially happy outside, and usually cries when it’s time to go back inside. She loves to drive her little pink coupe, to play with bubbles, and ride on the teeter totter with her older siblings.

Looks like you had a great week!! We have the same pink car too:) I love what you did with the wooden tray!!
That little tea set is beautiful! What an amazing thrift store find!
I wish my little guy liked it outside as much. Sometimes I literally have to force him to go outside and play for a while.
My oldest is like that too...I have to bribe him to go outside!
What a great tea set and what a fun idea to put noodles, beans, and rice in it for play. Looks like lots of learning fun was had. I esp love the sister snuggle picture.
